ADOPT A SEA TURTLE
Give the gift of conservation! Pro Peninsula has much to celebrate this holiday season. After five years of tireless work, and with your support, Pro Peninsula has grown into one of the premier conservation organizations striving to protect the natural resources of the Baja California peninsula. Now you can support Pro Peninsula while doing your holiday shopping: Adopt a Sea Turtle for everyone on your holiday list and give a gift that is truly meaningful, and helps to save these endangered animals and their habitats. When you Adopt a Sea Turtle you receive a personalized certificate with a picture of your turtle, its vital statistics and information on the community where it was captured and tagged. For a full year after your adoption, whenever your turtle is recaptured, you will receive an update on where it was found and how it is doing. Visit www.propeninsula.org/adopt to adopt a sea turtle today for yourself or as a gift to the animal lover on your list this holiday season! On behalf of all of us at Pro Peninsula, have a happy holiday season and thank you for your continued support. Warmest regards, Daniel A. Durazo Outreach Coordinator and Program Assistant.

PROPERTY OWNERSHIP UPDATE

Individuals from Clave Catastro are going from home to home in Todos Santos trying to update property ownership records and correct lot number errors. They are asking to see your ownership papers and /or your proof of Property tax payment. They are trying to reconcile and update their records. The intended goal is to identify and verify streets and their names (for street signs) and to assign house numbers. It is estimated to be a two-year project.

BOMBEROS

Important information for subscribers to the Bomberos house number program: Please change your emergency cards immediately to this new cell phone number: 044-612-142-6387 if no response call 044-612-133-9781. There has been a change in personnel at the Bomberos. These numbers are only for subscribers to the house number program. The all-purpose emergency phone number for the Bomberos fire and EMT is 066. This call goes to La Paz where it is forwarded to our Todos Santos police who then call our Bomberos. Anyone available to take on the important task of seeing that our Bomberos get their own phone? How about a pay phone inside their office?

Todos Santos Bomberos Need Your Support

It will soon be time to renew your subscription for the house number program and an opportunity for all our newer residents to become a part of this important community program. Those of you who are new to town may have noticed that some houses have numbers on a white board on the gate. This is the ONLY way our fire department and EMT services can identify your location if you have an emergency. These numbers are posted at the Bomberos station and those who subscribe to this program simply call and give the number. No worries about describing where you are!! This service is available to those who donate a minimum of 500 pesos a year to the Bomberos. Those who can afford to give more. The Todos Santos Bomberos receive virtually no money from the local government and are almost entirely reliant upon community support. New and old subscribers will be able to come to the fire department to sign up for the program or renew their subscription in January. There will be a volunteer at the fire department every Saturday and Sunday starting January 6 from noon until 2 p.m. In the meantime, for more information on this program and to learn how to subscribe, contact Sylvia St. Clair at 145-0563 or sasinbaja@yahoo.com.

ASUPMATOMA A.C. IS FORMING A COMMUNITY-BASED GROUP IN TODOS SANTOS All ages and interests are invited to work with them during the olive ridley (golfina) and leatherback (laud) turtle seasons, September-March. The group will assist biologists in nocturnal patrols, in the egg nursery and in educational presentation in schools and local festivals. ASUPMATOMA A.C. is the region’s oldest and most successful turtle conservation group and has been working in the area for eleven years. We hope to increase local awareness about turtle conservation issues and practices. Todos Santos is still known as the largest supplier of illegally captured adult turtles and turtle eggs. Together we can make a difference! Contact coordinator Patricia Baum at (612)145-0882 or email teampaty1@hotmail.com

Workshops

ARICA® PSYCHOCALISTHENICS® Psychocalisthenics® is a series of 23 exercises developed in 1958 by Oscar Ichazo, the founder of the Arica® School. He originally developed it for himself with the purpose of supporting long periods of meditation and providing clear concentration. Psychocalisthenics® awakens our organism in a serial fashion and produces a flash of vital energy through all of the muscles, organs, glands and tissue resulting in complete revitalization. Each exercise has a precise movement and breathing pattern that promotes anti aging, improved health, mental clarity, emotional balance, expanded happiness, and increased agility. The series will be taught over five consecutive days, one hour each day. After that you will be able to perform it on your own taking 15-20 minutes to complete the series. Once learned, drop-in weekly practice classes are available. Certified instructor, Rhoda Jacobs, will be offering Psychocalisthenics® workshops December 26-30, January 2 - 6, and January 15 - 19. Classes will take place from 8 to 9 a.m. in Las Tunas, and 3 - 4 pm at la Cañada del Diablo. Tuition $540MN or $50USD. You can try the first class of each series before signing up for the 5 days. Call for Las Tunas location or more information: 044-612-157-6088 or email rhodajacobs@yahoo.com Arica® and Psychocalisthenics® are registered trademarks.
